Patricia is the first pattern written by Micky Ruiz for Purple Daisy Quilt Designs. This is the first of many amazing patterns to be released by Micky. I will be introducing Micky in a future blog.
Micky showed me to this pattern years ago at a quilt retreat and I knew I had to make it. I made the version below and gave it to my mom during her battle with cancer. When Micky and I entered into this adventure of pattern writing together I knew I wanted to bring this pattern to you guys. I also knew I wanted to name it after my mom who was the strongest women I know. Unfortunately, she lost her battle to cancer two years ago and this is my homage to her.
The first quilt made from Patricia Pattern
The pattern is made up of 4 squares with a contrasting square folded into a triangle in each corner creating a snowball block. The corners of the blocks blend into the sashing which is highlighted with cornerstones of an accent fabric. It has 5 different sizes, Baby, Crib, Small Lap, Large Lap and Queen Size. Patricia has full color instructions with graphics showing how to construct the quilt. A quilt diagram and color sheet is included so you can plan out your quilt ahead of time.
The cover quilt is the large lap size and is created with Lori Holt-Stitch fabric line. I used one 10 square of Stitch and Lori Holt Cross-Stitch for the block corners and sashing. The cornerstones are a variety of fabrics from the LH Stitch line.
I also made a quilt sample in a small lap size out of Tula-Handmade. I love how versatile and easy to put together this pattern is. You can use traditional and modern quilt fabrics as well as large prints.
